Quality Management Approach

Buchanan Orthotics has been registered to the ISO 9001 Quality Management standard since 1999 and currently works to Quality Standards ISO 9001:2015. As part of this process, we encourage improvements in all aspects of working practice.

This system covers all the areas of manufacturing and product supply and as such has policies to control all areas of manufacturing, quality and product delivery.

New products are regularly reviewed to ensure relevance and effectiveness, and this information is shared across our clinical networks.

The company is also fully compliant with all national manufacturing regulations.

 

Buchanan Orthotics  Sustainability

Buchanan Orthotics has undertaken a policy of reducing its carbon footprint. We've installed new temperature-monitored heating controls across the factory and office. Furthermore, all manufacturing ovens have been replaced with new temperature-controlled models.

In terms of sourcing, we've started looking for carbon-neutral manufacturers of materials and recently switched to companies actively becoming carbon-neutral.

Our travel policy aims to minimise our environmental impact by encouraging the use of trains where appropriate and utilising clinicians based in areas that involve less travelling. We are also in the process of switching to low-emission vehicles, including the recent purchase of our first electric fleet cars.

Finally, Buchanan Orthotics is fully compliant with Waste Scotland regulations, and all manufacturing waste is recycled where appropriate. We've also collaborated with ‘Zero Waste Scotland’ to ensure we reduce all forms of waste.
