Buchanan Orthotics has been registered to ISO 9001 Quality Management standard since 1999 and currently work to Quality Standards ISO 9001:2015, and as part of this process, we encourage improvements in all aspects of working practice.
This system covers all the areas of manufacturing and product supply and as such has policies to control all areas of manufacturing, quality and product delivery.
New products are regularly reviewed to ensure relevance and effectiveness and this information is shared across our clinical networks.
The company is also fully compliant with all national manufacturing regulations
British Healthcare Trades Association (BHTA)
Buchanan Orthotics is a member of the British Healthcare Trades Association. The BHTA is a non-profit trade association of the UK’s healthcare and assistive technology sector. As a company we follow the BHTA's code of Practice which can be viewed on their website in full
Buchanan Orthotics Sustainability
The company has undertaken a policy of reducing our carbon footprint. Buchanan Orthotics has installed new heating controls across the factory and office which are temperature monitored. Further, all Manufacturing ovens have been replaced with new temperature-controlled models.
The company has started sourcing carbon-neutral manufacturers of materials and have recently moved to companies who are actively becoming carbon neutral.
The company operates a travel policy which looks to use trains where appropriate and to utilise clinicians who are based in areas which involve less travelling. The company is also switching to vehicles which are low emission, including recently purchasing our first electric fleet cars.
The company is also fully compliant with Waste Scotland regulations, and all manufacturing waste is recycled where appropriate. The company has worked with ‘Zero Wate Scotland’ to ensure we reduce all forms of waste.
